The swallows stay all Summer helping with insect control and then, just as they appear overnight, they disappear one morning. We will wake up and they are gone and I'm sad for a day or two, but I know in my heart that they will make their way back again next year. Swallows will always be welcomed guests here at Feed me Farms. In fact, we will always keep the porch light on for them.

Love this post. I'm also from Texas. My parents live on 11 acres which they have left largely untouched. There are numerous bird and squirrel feeders and evenings find my father heading out with old canteloupes, bad watermelons, and any other treats the resident wild doe (aka "Penelope") and her family might enjoy, along with their mineral block and corn. My father is regularly buzzed by owls and, in the spring, the resident owls run a flight school for the owlets. An awesome sight.
ReplyDeleteI love your farm, can I come live with you?
ReplyDeleteWhat little cuties...I have never seen pictures up close like that before...How cute! We miss Texas!
ReplyDeleteWe love these little birds too! They nest everywhere, but my "scratching head" nest is in one of our garage door openers. We haven't shut the garage in ages! They love to follow me on the tractor, as I mow, and the funniest fellow dive bombs the pool, picking out bugs, even when the dogs (border collies) are taking their daily dip. Really cool blog you have!
